Electronic Request for Counseling

Before the VBOC can provide assistance, veterans are required to complete the Electronic Request for Counseling (ERFC) form and fax a copy of their VA "Letter of Award" stating a service-connected disability, if applicable.

The ERFC is a secure form where veterans provide information about themselves and the services they seek. It gives the VBOC permission to assist a veteran. We are required by law to obtain this before assisting veterans. Therefore, the VBOC cannot assist veterans or speak with them until the ERFC is received.

At times, problems can occur with the form. If this happens when completing the form, either print out the completed form and mail/fax it to us, or call us to have one sent via mail.
