What We DoWe serve veterans in their efforts to form and/or grow small businesses We believe that the veteran small business is unique. On active duty, the majority of our veterans were accountable for equipment, resources and personnel worth millions of dollars. Veterans have proven leadership ability since they have been trained to lead by example as well as through direction and inspiration. Veterans understand how genuine teamwork grows out of responsibility to one's colleagues. Veterans work well under pressure and have respect for procedures, processes as well as health and safety. Veteran talents are unique in that they are highly flexible individuals and have an entrepreneurial spirit; less self-involved and they know how to improvise. Veteran owned companies bring to bear all their learned skill sets. They are different than any other startup because they are bringing that experience, and it shows. (niche talent) Mission StatementThe mission of VBOC is to help create, develop and retain veteran-owned businesses across the Southeast quadrant of the United States. The VBOC serves as a contact center (clearinghouse) for business and technical assistance to all veterans within SBA's Region IV (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee). The VBOC networks with SBA district offices and hundreds of resource partners such as state Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), Womens' Business Centers (WBC), Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE), Business Information Centers (BIC) and the Veterans Corporation (VETCORP). The VBOC provides business services throughout the lifecycle of a business across our eight-stage region. We provide counseling, training and information services. What we can't do in house we'll steer you toward experts in the business field. |
